Manchester lies within the United Kingdom’s second-most populous urban area, with a population of 2.8 million.
This city boasts of having up to 200 languages spoken, making it one of the most linguistically diverse cities in Western Europe.
Manchester’s most widely spoken non-English language remains Urdu. But other languages are catching up. Arabic, Cantonese, Polish, Bengali and Somali are all widely spoken but there are dozens of others in everyday use- for instance, Yoruba, Igbo, Lingala, and Pashto.
Manchester is also one of the most popular student cities in the world – for both international students and those in the UK. But what makes Manchester such a great student city? Well, one reason would be due to its multi-cultural presence.
More than 80,000 students every year choose Manchester for their studies. With a large proportion of international students making up that number, you’ll have many opportunities to befriend people from every nation.
Manchester is one of the most exciting places to visit in the UK. Everybody is warmly welcomed and this offers an open door to share the Good News with people who never heard before.
You will come and initiate relationships with international students, asylum seekers and other immigrants. Manchester is a place of opportunity where you can get involved in the lives of people who come from diverse religious and social backgrounds.
